On 23 October 2015 the 3. ORTHOPÄDIE SCHUH TECHNIK – International Trade Fair and Congress will open its doors in Cologne. After only two events, the ORTHOPÄDIE SCHUH TECHNIK has turned into the most important meeting point of the orthopedic shoe technology industry within a very short time.

On the 23 and the 24 of October 2015, orthopedic shoe makers (pedorthists) from Germany and from abroad will be offered once more a unique, extensive and concentrated overview of the industry at the trade fair in Cologne.

The congress will be interpreted simultaneously into English. More than 400 participants from all around the world are expected. The two-day congress with 30 specialized lectures and almost as many seminars offers a complete over-view of orthopedic shoe technology and provides numerous stimuli for the further development of this trade and for the linkage to neighbouring areas. Thus the congress is bound to consolidate its position as the most important further education event of the profession.

Under the slogan "What moves us", the congress picks up on trade-related, scientific and political topics. The call for abstracts also leaves room for free topics. Locomotion and mobility are central topics of orthopedic shoe technology (pedorthics). Not only the motion sequences of customers and patients are relevant, also developments within the trade, in politics or even on an international level will be addressed.

Some of the central issue of the congress 2015 are:
What moves us, when we move?
How do the stimuli that we take in through our feet continue in our body?
What is the industry dealing with at the moment?
What changes are looming internationally?

Apart from background information, also practical treatments will not miss out on the congress program. After all the congress in Cologne is the most important meeting point for the health professions of orthopedic shoe technology (pedorthics).

English seminar "Custom made orthopedic shoes: when to use them, how to built them"

Apart from the simultaneous interpretation of the congress lectures, this year for the first time there will be a seminar in English. In 90 minutes the participants will get a sound overview of orthopedic aids and appliances on the foot. Special focus will be orthopedic custom-made shoes. For what kind of foot problems are they the best choice? What different types of orthopedic custom-made shoes exist? How can we take measurements so that the shoe fits later on?

Speakers for this seminars will be the authors of the book „Orthopädieschuhtechnik“ (Pedorthics), that has developed into a standard work since its publication in 2010. René Baumgartner is a renowned orthopedist and orthopedic surgeon and has been committed to the cooperation of medicine and trade; Dr. Hartmut Stinus is a pedorthist and an orthopedist and orthopedic surgeon; Michael Müller is a pedorthist and a lecturer at the Hochschule Münster für Technische Orthopädie (University of Applied Sciences Münster for Technical Orthopedics). All three have often shared their knowledge at international events and will present the English edition of their book in Cologne.
