IVO-Congress 2021: Diabetic foot and biomechanics of the foot will be main topics

The city of Cologne in Germany will be the venue of the next IVO Congress on 22/23 October 2021. Main topics will be the diabetic foot and the biomechanics of the foot.

The congress will be organized by the Zentralverband Orthopädieschuhtechnik (Central Association for Orthopaedic Shoe Technology) in cooperation with C. Maurer Fachmedien, publisher of the journals foot&shoe and "Orthopädieschuhtechnik". The IVO Congress 2021 will take place together with the trade fair and congress "ORTHOPÄDIE SCHUH TECHNIK".

The diabetic foot has become a widespread disease not only in industrialized countries. In many countries in Asia, the Arab world or in countries in Africa and South America, the number of people suffering from diabetes is also increasing - and thus the number of cases with diabetic foot syndrome.

At the congress, the latest scientific findings on the diabetic foot syndrome will be presented and discussed in terms of their practical significance for pedorthists. At the same time, the basics of diabetic foot syndrome and its treatment will be presented and interdisciplinary care concepts will be introduced. This offer is particularly aimed at visitors from countries without specialists for the diabetic foot or medical care structures for the treatment of this severe complication of diabetes. Special lectures as well as workshops on individual issues are going to be offered.

The second focus of the congress will be the biomechanics of the foot. The human foot has the same anatomy and biomechanics everywhere. But foot problems, their cause and therapy, are viewed very differently. The IVO Congress will offer the opportunity to learn about  different concepts and to discuss differences and similarities.

More information about the congress will be available soon.
