PAC-Symposium: 3 Days of Networking and Communication
The Pedorthic Association of Canada’s (PAC) annual Symposium held April 23–25, 2026 in Toronto, brought together the country’s Pedorthic community for three days of high-impact networking, education, and forward-looking dialogue. The program featured a 60+ booth, two-day trade show showcasing the latest technologies, products, and services shaping the industry, alongside a well-attended President’s Lunch recognizing outstanding contributions across the profession, and a lively social evening complete with live entertainment and themed networking.
From the opening reception through to the closing sessions, the Symposium delivered a compelling blend of clinical insight, business strategy, and innovation reinforcing the profession’s expanding role and influence within Canada’s healthcare system. Co-chairs, Corrie Weames, C. Ped (C) and Kayta Desmoreaux, C. Ped (C) curated an elevated Symposium experience for attendees.
This year’s program featured a solid lineup of keynote presentations, expert-led sessions, and panel discussions. Topics ranged from interdisciplinary care and fall prevention to advancements in orthotic manufacturing, biomechanics, and digital workflows. Sessions also explored practice growth, diversification, and the integration of emerging professionals highlighting the importance of mentorship and education in building a sustainable future for pedorthics.
A central highlight was the President’s Lunch, which recognized the volunteers, leaders, and contributors who continue to drive the profession forward, while also marking a leadership transition to PAC President Sean MacMillan, C. Ped Tech (C), C. Ped (C) from Past-President, Jodi Basha, C. Ped (C). The lunch also celebrated the 2026 PAC Award recipients, recognizing excellence across the profession.
This year’s honourees included Brandon Crossman, recipient of the Emerging Professional Award, recognizing early-career leadership and impact; Christy Schantz, who received the Spirit of Pedorthics Award for her passion and advocacy; and Ermin Pagtakhan, awarded the Mentorship Award for his commitment to developing others. Kathleen Klement was honoured with the Award of Distinction for her sustained contributions to clinical practice and education, while Graham Archer received the Michael Van Vlack Memorial Leadership Award - PAC’s highest honour and recognizing long-standing leadership, mentorship, and service to the profession.
As the Symposium concluded, attendees left with practical tools, new connections, and a shared commitment to advancing Pedorthic care setting the stage for continued growth across the profession. Next year’s Symposium is scheduled for St. John’s, Newfoundland on Canada’s scenic east coast, April 8-10, 2026.
