OTWorld.connect 2020 will be held exclusively online from 27 to 29 October

The OTWorld.connect 2020 trade show and world congress will be held online from 27 to 29 October. After intensive discussions with representatives of the exhibitor advisory board and the programme committee, the German Association of Orthopaedic Technology (BIV-OT) as the conceptual sponsor and Leipziger Messe as the organiser have jointly decided to hold OTWorld.connect from 27 - 29 October 2020 exclusively as a digital event. The virtual World Congress will be held, with over 250 confirmed speakers and presentations from 20+ countries, along with digital presentations on industry innovations.

From the very beginning of the Covid 19 crisis, OTWorld's team has been developing an innovative new event concept in response to the pandemic. A hybrid format was developed, which provides digital offers, but could integrate a reduced on-site event: the OTWorld.connect. A hygiene concept approved by the authorities was developed by Leipziger Messe for the presence event. However, the current development of the corona pandemic has overtaken these plans. “In light of travel warnings, quarantine regulations and further local lockdowns, uncertainty was increasing worldwide. It was essential to create secure conditions for exhibitors and visitors from the more than 100 countries who meet every two years in Leipzig to exchange ideas and experiences. Given this situation, all those involved have therefore decided by mutual agreement to concentrate on the digital event and to forego the presence event," explains Martin Buhl-Wagner, Managing Director of Leipziger Messe.

From 27 - 29 October OTWorld.connect will offer opportunities for continuing education and knowledge exchange. As planned, the scientific congress programme will be digitally presented - in German and English. More than 250 participants from over 20 countries are invited to an interactive exchange of ideas.

The congress will be accompanied by the presentation of innovations from the industry. OTWorld has created an online exhibition centre. In the so-called Innovation Showrooms, exhibitors can present their latest products.

Simultaneously to OTWorld.connect the 7th European TAR Conference (Technically Assisted Rehabilitation) will take place on 28 and 29 October. This European forum focuses on the discussion and presentation of the latest technical innovations in modern rehabilitation. The final programme can be found on the event homepage  www.ot-world.com

"At times like these, the professional exchange between experts and decision-makers at the national and international level must be sustained. Health care concepts must be updated in times of limited contact and the need for innovation is therefore increased. At the same time, supply chains could become unstable," stresses Alf Reuter, President of the German Association of Orthopaedic Technology. "I am grateful therefore that our partner, the Leipziger Messe, has developed a concept, OTWorld.connect, which lends itself to the different scenarios found in a pandemic. Now a completely virtual meeting is possible for us", stresses Reuter.

Tickets for the virtual congress will be available in October.Industry innovations can be experienced digital free of charge. The purchase price for previously paid tickets will be refunded.
