Guidance for a Case Report

Until now orthopedic shoemakers have presented cases from their workaday life in the section "Workshop" of the journal foot&shoe with the purpose of inspiring colleagues to describe solutions for problems and supply explanations why something is done in a certain way. In the future, these case reports can be handed in for inclusion in the scientific section. Please contact the editorial staff in advance if you would like to present a case: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Collect material It is important to document the single steps photographically for a publication in a journal, as well as for a presentation. The following questions may be helpful for your material collection:

1. Anamnesis (diagnosis of physician/specifications of treatment):
• Which patient has to be treated? (Age, gender, disease, general condition)
• Which antecedents does the patient have?
• Which treatment has the patient received so far?
• Which kind of treatment is to be rendered now? Why did you choose this kind of treatment?
• What are the special challenges in this case?

2. Implementation
• What did you do step by step and for what reason?
• What materials did you use?
• Why did you use these materials?
• What kind of problems occurred?
• How did you solve them?
• What worked out better than expected?
• How often did the patient come in for follow-up-checks?
• Were there any problems? How did you solve them?

3. Result (Approval of the aid/appliance by the physician):
• How did the patient react to the treatment?
• What is the current situation?
• Did the chosen path prove itself?
• What would you do differently retrospectively?
• What new insights/ competences did you gain?
• What was the cooperation with the physician/insurance company like?
